Let me indroduce: EP Movin’ On

Following the successful release of the two singles Words Are Hard to Find and Fallin’, Thun based singer-songwriter Andrea Schmider is now releasing the EP Movin’ On on November 3, 2023. You can expect a total of five deeply personal and moving songs, which build on her previous productions in atmospheric musical guises and yet always surprise you.

They were created in collaboration with London singer-songwriter Nadine Yomi and producer Manuel Halter (Luca Hänni, Boerni, Tracey Campbell, and many more). Each of the five songs occupies its own musical space – linked by the expressive and varied voice of the experienced singer. Stylistically, the production is still acoustic pop, but this time with jazzy vibes and a pinch of Irish folk. Inspiration was drawn from Katie Melua, Norah Jones and The Corrs, among others.

The album was recorded in Ostermundigen BE at Studio 21. Renowned studio musicians such as Michael Koshorrek (Söhne Mannheims), Dominik Burkhalter (Bligg, Baschi, Luca Hänni), Rafael Jerjen (Maxmantis) and of course Manuel Halter contributed to the fantastic sound. One of the many special features of this album: four of the five songs were recorded with upright bass.

The tour will kick off with a release event on January 13, 2024 at Studio 21 in Ostermundigen. More shows and a next production are already in the works.

Biography

With a strong team and her trademark expressive and versatile voice, the singer-songwriter from Biel is back with moving new songs after a long break. The EP Movin’ On was released in November 2023 and achieved considerable success with a total of over 85,000 streams on Spotify. Produced by Bernese producer Manuel Halter (Luca Hänni, Remo Forrer, Börni, etc.) and with the help of top-class studio musicians such as Michael Koshorreck from Söhne Mannheims and Dominic Burkhalter from Bligg, Baschi and Luca Hänni, a little gem with 5 personal, varied songs has been created

Born and raised at the gateway to the Bernese Oberland, it was clear from an early age that this child would express herself audibly. She discovered the use of her voice long before the use of her legs and entertained the neighborhood with her Sunday school repertoire. During her school years, she learned to play the violin and then discovered her true passion: singing. Her vocal organ was trained for hours to the records of Whitney Houston, Sandy Patti and Amy Grant. At fifteen, she appeared on stage for the first time in a musical choir, played piano in her church, sang as a soloist and wrote her first songs.

“When singing, I’m somehow totally me”

After a decade of experience as a background singer and soloist in choirs – both live (e.g. at the Theater National Bern and the Parkarena Winterthur) and in the studio – she took to the stage in 2010 with an acoustic solo program. The trademark of her music is her expressive and varied voice – whether in her own compositions or in the interpretation of well-known melodies. The debut EP Beauty from Ashes with four original compositions was released in 2012, followed by the first full album Promise of Spring in 2016. With a top-class band and a total of 15 songs in their luggage, they went on tour, e.g. at the cultural venue ONO Bern and twice each at the Alte Schmitte Steffisburg and the Alti Moschti MĂĽhlethurnen. They also stopped off at radio stations such as Radio BeO, Radio Lifechannel and various indie radio stations for interviews and performances. Some still have the single Colors of the Heart in rotation.

At the beginning of 2023, after devoting herself to other projects and further education (including an MAS in Pop/Rock at the Bern University of the Arts), she returned to the studio to produce the EP Movin’ On, which was released on November 3, 2023. The two singles Words Are Hard to Find and Fallin’ can also be heard on various radio stations, including Radio Swiss Pop.

Five live videos were filmed in January 2024, which will be published on YouTube in the spring. For these live recordings, the same musicians were recruited as for the studio recordings. In addition to the live videos, further single releases, a tour and the production and release of further songs are planned for 2024.
